CM inaugurates Amrit Udyan in Guwahati

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, today inaugurated the Amrit Udyan in Hengrabari region of the city.

Amrit Udyan is the latest addition to the Guwahati Smart City Project after the Integrated Traffic Management System. It aims to provide a clean and safe space for the people of the city for exercise and relaxation. This project spreads across a sprawling 14 bighas of land in the center of the Guwahati city. Located next to the newly created DC office of Kamrup Metropolitan, Amrit Udyan has a host of facilities for everyone to enjoy. It has a meditation area, a multipurpose building and a skating ring other than the regular facilities. Parking space is also available in the vicinity. Another key feature of this park are the statues of eight freedom fighters from Northeast India.

A similar project named the Atal Udyan was created and inaugurated last year in the Boripara – Adabari region of the city. And it was very eagerly accepted by the citizens. With rapid growth and development, the once green city of Guwahati is gradually loosing its charm and the vast greenery is now covered by concrete structures. These projects not only aim to replenish the greenery but also provide safe places for the people. The river bank beautification project including the Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Center is another part of this development.
