Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the much-awaited Maligaon flyover on August 30. An event will be organized to mark the occasion and traffic restrictions have been announced. These restrictions are aimed at preventing massive congestion on this important road due to the event. The traffic police have ordered the diversion of vehicles on some routes. While others will continue to function as usual.
Traffic will divert all vehicles coming from the Jalukbari side towards Bharalumukh at Boripara Bridge. These include two-wheelers and private four-wheelers as well. The vehicles will move towards Kamakhya Railway Station, then Rang Bhawan or Goshala. From there they will proceed towards Maligaon Gate number 3 towards A T Road. Also, all city buses will be diverted from Jalukbari-Bypass 1, Rotary Point and Haj Bhawan via Tetelia towards Maligaon Gate Number 3 on A T Road. All ASTC and day super buses will proceed towards Gorchuk-Lokhra- Basistha- Khanapara from Jalukbari. These vehicles will not enter the city from Jalukbari. These restrictions are valid from 3:30 PM till the end of the inaugural event.
People can come to the event in public or private vehicles.The administration has made the arrangements for the parking of these vehicles at Boripara field. The visitors will have to proceed to the venue on foot from there on.
There will be no diversion of traffic for the vehicles moving from Bharalumukh towards Jalukbari. Goods carrying vehicles is however an exception. Police will not allow commercial vehicles on the A T Road and B G Road from 2 PM to 8 PM. This restriction is valid for traffic moving from the Bharalumukh side to the Jalukbari side.
The police have however relieved all emergency vehicles from these traffic restrictions for Maligaon flyover inauguration. These include ambulances, fire tenders, etc.
