Two associations, Kamrup Chamber of Commerce (KCC) and All Guwahati Traders Association, made similar appeals to the citizens of Guwahati to curb their business hours. However, the timings cited by both the associations were contradictory. This difference in timings has given rise to confusions regarding business hours in Kamrup Metro.
The KCC on Wednesday requested the citizens to curb their business hours from 9 AM to 5 PM till June 30. The appeal was prompted by the surge in the positive cases of Covid-19 in Kamrup Metro. However, the Assam Chambers of Commerce has not issued any official notification in this regard.
Chairman of Assam Chamber of Commerce, Rupam Goswami shared a video on social elaborating on the appeal by KCC. In the video he urged the people to follow the three basic safety measures to contain the Covid-19 virus which are to constantly sanitizing/washing hands, wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
“We believe that if we follow these 3 rules during work, the curfew like situation may not even arise”, he added.
Concerned over the rising number of Covid positive cases, the All Guwahati Traders Association on Thursday too appealed he citizens of Guwahati to restrict their business timings from 8 AM to 7 PM.
“We request all the respective members to follow the guidelines issued by our association. We also like to request our respective members to maintain social distancing, using hand sanitizers frequently and always carrying masks. We want everyone to cooperate with us in this pandemic period of corona virus”, stated the Association.
With these two directives and no proper guidelines from the state govt, the traders & citizens are puzzled regarding business hours and curfew timings.
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has asked for the government intervention in this regard.
