Several members of Earthful Foundation took the initiative to distribute emergency material to 207 families across five villages in Morigaon District of Assam on Sunday. This campaign was taken under Project Xokaah of the organisation.
The Earthful Foundation is a social initiate of popular Assamese singer Angaraag Papon Mahanta and his wife,Shweta Angaraag Mahanta. The organisation mainly looks into Recycling waste materials. And this time it is working towards supporting flood victims.
207 emergency kits were distributed across five villages of Raja Mayong of the Morigaon District of Assam. The villages are Kanduli Pothaar, Haadugpaar, Omoramul, 2 No. Murkata and Hatigarh Kusiyani.
Each emergency kit is for a family. It contains water bottle, biscuits , mosquito repellents, matchboxes, soap, lighter, candles and a torchlight. All items are packed in a reusable PVC bag, which can be used for other important items as well.
It should be noted that last year this region suffered heavily because of floods. With thousands of people being displaced and property lost last year , people are taking precautionary measures. Also with the rise of the water level in the Brahmaputra River, locals are afraid of another disaster.
