The extended wing of Ganeshguri flyover in Guwahati was inaugurated by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday on the occasion of Sashthi of Durga Puja.
Along with the Chief Minister the inaugural ceremony was graced by state Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Guwahati Development Department (GDD) minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that the fast completion of the Ganeshguri flyover is an example of good governance and quality governance. He further proposed the idea of a color combination for buildings in Guwahati to be developed in the coming days with support of the city’s residents.
State Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted that the “425.5 m flyover in worth Rs 58.74 Cr. , is an epitome of the dedication shown by P.W.D. team amid COVID adversities“.
Previously the Ganeshguri flyover served only the Guwahati- Shillong Road. But the extended wing connects the R. G. Baruah to the existing one. Built mostly during the Covid-19 pandemic, it is expected to reduce traffic drastically at the busy Ganeshguri point. The vehicles from Nursery side can now move freely towards Secretariat side without interference with traffic towards Hatigaon side.
