The foundation stone of India’s first multi -modal logistics park at Jogighopa in Assam was laid virtually by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday.
The 700 crore project will felicitate direct connectivity to air, road, rail as well as waterways.
The Logistics Park project will be developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana of the Government of India. It will have direct connectivity from NH-17 (31-B) and from the newly constructed Rupsi and Guwahati Airport. Also, it will be directly connected from Jogighopa Waterway Terminal.
The ceremony was presided by Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, General (Dr.) V.K. Singh (Retd), Food Processing Minister Rameswar Teli, Minister of Industries and Commerce Chandra Mohan Patowary and other ministers graced the event.
The park will have ample space for containers of the companies with proper safety. It will be well equipped with state-of-the-art safety tools. The cargo sergeant capacity will be up to 13 Million Metric Tonnes per year. The project is expected to generate huge employment up to 2 million.
This all weather storage facility project is also expected to felicitate easy marketing for local products. With this project, Assam is hopeful to become the business hub of Northeast India
