Barbara Pompili, the Minister for Ecological Transition of France will be visiting Kaziranga National Park during her five-day visit to India. As per reports, the minister will also pay a visit to IIT Guwahati.
The minister will be in India to deepen Indo-French Cooperation on sustainable development. Kaziranga National Park is one of the sites of the Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation (APFBC). Pompili will focus on the potential Indo-French cooperation to encourage international efforts for protection of biodiversity.
The French Development Agency has been working with Assam since 2012, providing financial and technical assistance to APFBC to support the state’s biodiversity conservation efforts, sustainable and participatory management of forests and the creation of alternate livelihoods for forest-dependent communities
