Guwahati: The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, (LGBIA) has scaled up its parking facility with a FASTag solution from Tuesday. The upgrade is available for all passengers and visitors coming to the airport with vehicles.
FASTag is an electronic toll collection system. Private sector lender ICICI Bank has enabled FASTag-based payment at LGBI Airport in Guwahati. This facility is for all vehicles entering into airport premises and parking areas. The facility allows FASTag users of any bank to pay the parking charges if required digitally. And in a contactless manner, resulting in quicker movement of vehicles in the parking zone.
This new facility has been inaugurated by the Chief Airport Officer of the Guwahati Airport, Utpal Baruah. Many senior officers and stakeholders of the airport were also present for the event. Speaking in this context, Utpal Baruah said, “Since the beginning, Guwahati International Airport Limited has been focusing on the deployment of technology at each process at the airport while developing the infrastructure. To facilitate the quick movement of vehicles we have introduced today the FASTag option at the entry lane of the parking. It will be a far faster process than the manual system which is operational now. It will also reduce the dwell time to enter or exit the terminal, thus helping in saving time and fuel.”
One can be note that the Guwahati Airport is the biggest airport in the Northeastern part of the country. It also caters to a huge number of passengers every day. This new facility is expected to increase the speed as well as streamline the movement of vehicles, including those coming for pickup and drop facilities.
