Guwahati Police issues traffic restrictions for Ambubachi Mela 2024

Guwahati: Guwahati Police has issued a set of traffic restrictions for Ambubachi Mela 2024. The festival will be underway from 22 June to 25 June. The mentioned restrictions will be valid from 5 AM on 22 June to midnight on 25 June. The following are the traffic restrictions for Ambubachi Mela 2024. 

Vehicles will not be allowed to enter from Maa Kamakhya Foot Hill towards Maa Kamakhya Temple except vehicles having the authorized car passes issued by the District Administration. Movement of emergency vehicles like Fire Tenders, Ambulances, Life-Saving Drugs, Vehicles carrying Oxygen cylinders and School Buses etc will not be restricted.

Movement of pilgrims

Only the vehicles possessing car passes issued by the District Administration and ferry vehicles will be allowed to ply from Pandu Cabin Tiniali up to Bongshi Bagan. No vehicle will be allowed to cross Bongshi Bagan Point towards Maa Kamakhya Temple.

The vehicles carrying devotees coming from the Jalukbari side will take the service lane of Nilachal Flyover and drop the pilgrims on the opposite side of Gate No. 3 of Railway HQ and the said take a U-turn under the flyover and move towards designated parking places at Adabari bus stand and Boripara field. The vehicles carrying devotees coming from the Bharalumukh side will take the service lane of Nilachal Flyover and drop the pilgrims on the opposite side of Swagat Hospital near Railway Gate No. 4 and the said vehicles will move straight towards designated parking places at Adabari bus stand and Boripara field. 

All devotees coming to visit Maa Kamakhya Temple will park their 2-wheelers / LMV / HMV either on Adabari Bus Stand or Boripara Field. Parking places under the Nilachal Flyover will be marked as restricted Parking Zone. No roadside parking will be allowed from Adabari Tiniali to Pandu Port on Pandu Port Road and from Maligaon Chariali to Pandu Port on Borbazar Road.

Buses with pilgrims from Kamakhya Railway Junction will move on PNGB Road via DG Road to Adabari Tiniali and towards Pandu Port Road to their temporary rest camp at Pandu Port. These devotes will then take the service lane of Nilachal Flyover. 

Movement of vehicles

All the ASTC Buses, City Buses, Private Vehicles etc. will ply over the Nilachal Flyover from Jalukbari Rotary to Machkhowa and vice versa avoiding the service lane of Nilachal Flyover. The City buses carrying the public from the Jalukbari side will drop the passengers at Biswakarma Mandir and the City buses carrying the public from the Bharalumukh side will drop the passengers at Boripara field. No city buses will be allowed to drop their passengers off at either end of the bridge.

Plying of commercial goods carrying vehicles of 4 wheelers and above shall be restricted from Jalukbari Rotary to Machkhowa on DG Road, MG Road and A.T Road. Commercial goods carrying vehicles of 3 wheelers and above and slow-moving commercial vehicles/carts shall be restricted on Jalukbari Rotary to Machkhowa on DG Road, MG Road and AT Road. Commercial goods carrying vehicles of 3 wheel commercial vehicles/carts shall be restricted from Adabari Tiniali to Pandu Port on Pandu Port Road and from Maligaon Tiniali to Pandu Port on Borbazar Road.

No Inter District and Long distance buses including those operating under ASTC will be allowed to ply on DG Road, MG Road and AT Road. Long-distance buses coming from Lower Assam will be stopped and parked at Adabari Bus Stand.

Heavy vehicles will not be allowed from NH 27 towards Goshala via Tetelia.
