New Institutional Quarantine Exemptions for Passengers in Assam

Assam Health Department on Tuesday issued a new notification announcing some additional categories of air passengers exempted from institutional quarantine.

The categories were released in statement which was shared by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet.

As per the guidelines following categories of incoming passengers will be exempted from institutional quarantine

  • Husband and wife who travelled to Assam together.
  • Husband, wife and their children who travelled to Assam together
  • Husband, wife and their parents who travelled to Assam together.

However, these categories are subjected to following conditions.

  1. All the passengers falling under the aforesaid categories has to be asymptomatic.
  2. Every person has to undergo a 14 days home quarantine after compliance with health protocols such as collection of swab samples for Covid-19 test hand stamping, conversion of the residence into a containment zone.
  3. Passengers travelling to the state by any other mode than air shall not be shall not be exempted from institutional quarantine even if they qualify for the aforesaid categories.

Above exemptions from insititutional quarantine will not be applicable if the flight in which the persin has travelled has been found to have a high incidence if Covid-19 positive cases or has been contaminated in some way.

Assam currently stands a total of 4319 cases of Covid-19 with 1897 active cases.
