In a step towards the development of a skilled workforce for the hospitality sector, Jayanta Malla Baruah launched a skill development program for hotel staff. He holds the Skill Development Employment & Entrepreneurship and Tourism portfolios of Assam.
The minister ceremoniously launched the Upskilling program for hotel staff on Tuesday. A total of 100 hotel staff from different organizations will take part in this training. And the hotels belonging to Kamakhya and Paltan Bazar localities of the capital city of Guwahati. This upskilling program aims to train the selected hotel staff regarding several key skills of the sector. Personality development, communication skills, behavior as well as domain knowledge will be provided to the participants.
The tourism sector of the state has seen massive growth in the recent time. With a large volume of tourists coming into the state, the demand for volume and quality of services has also increased. This new programme is expected to bridge the gap between the growing demands and the existing talent pool. Also, the tourists coming into the state will get a better overall experience. These trained individuals will be able to guide the tourists towards locations of their choice. That too with complete ease and within their schedules and budgets.
The minister also launched an integrated Assam Job Portal for the job seekers of the state. This portal has been created with the popular job search portal, Naukri.com. This step has been taken in line with the vision of digitization of all services by the chief minister. The new portal will also assist candidates from the state with an option for comprehensive job-related information. It will also become a centralized platform where everyone will be able to access resources needed for employment.
