Ramendra Narayan Kalita, the Member of Legislative Assembly elected from the West Guwahati Constituency flagged off a new campaign to spread awareness about the need of COVID -19 vaccination in his constituency. He flagged off the event at the Adingiri Urban Primary Health Center near Maligaon in Guwahati.
The awareness campaign involves two vehicles equipped with announcement systems. They will travel through various nooks and corners of the constituency spreading information about the vaccine and its safety. Local volunteers will also distribute pamphlets and speak to people regarding the same. Although Guwahati boosts of highest vaccination numbers in Assam, there are still many interior locations withing the city where people have not taken the vaccine.
This week-long awareness campaign was undertaken by an organisation called World Vision India. Apart from this campaign, they have also donated four hospital beds, five blood glucose monitoring kits, PPE kits, masks, gloves, sanitizers and thermometers to the Adingiri Urban Primary Health Center.
Speaking about the need of the vaccination, Mr. Kalita requested the public to follow all COVID-19 safety protocols and take the vaccine as soon as possible. Speaking in the event, he also announced that proper drinking water supply and drainage are his priorities. He also mentioned the setting up a veterinary clinic, police post, power substation and fire station in the Adingiri region
