In order to control the spread of COVID-19 and thereby prevent the third wave of infections from happening, the District administration of the Kamrup Metropolitan District has demarcated multiple micro containment zones.
These include the Kamakhya High School in Maligaon and the Garigaon Balika Muktab in Jalukbari. The Office of the Superintendent of the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell in Rupnagar was also included as eleven out the forty eight people tested positive for COVID-19
These locations will be under containment zone from today, that is the 28th of October to 4th of November.
The latest set of Standard Operating Procedures for the state of Assam was issued two days back. And a key point in this order was that the district authorities can declare any place a micro containment zone if the number of positive cases touched ten within a span of a week.
Any movement of people of vehicles without proper credentials is prohibited in these Micro Containment Zones. However essential commodities and essential service including shops dealing with groceries, fruits and vegetables, milk and dairy products, animal food etc. can stay open till 10 PM. Delivery services including food, medicines and medical equipment etc. can work round the clock even in these containment zones.
