The newly constructed flyover at Arya Nagar was opened for public today by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. This new flyover comes as a pre-puja gift for the citizens of Guwahati who are suffering from the traffic woes of the city.
Previously called Sharabbhati, Arya Nagar area of Guwahati had suffered from heavy traffic for quite some years now. This intersection is a key location for the city as it connects some of the important points of the city. The large number of people taking this road cause major traffic woes during the peak hours. With this new flyover, the travel time of people taking this route is expected to decrease drastically.
Completed in record time, this two lane fly over starts near the labor office in Rehabari to the Dr. Bhubaneshwar Barooah Cancer Institute (BBCI). This way, people traveling from the Nepali Mandir side towards Lal Ganesh and vice versa can use the overpass. While those who travelling from Ulubari towards Fatasil and vice versa can use the old road. Those taking turning will have to do the same under the flyover by following necessary rules of the roundabout.
A major part of the viewers of the upcoming international T20 match will be taking this route to the stadium. And so will many of the enthusiasts during the upcoming Durga Puja.
