Night Curfews to start again in Assam

The health minister of Assam, Keshab Mahanta called for a press conference today wherein he announced the steps that Assam will take in the next few days to combat any possible growth in the COVID-19 virus, specially the latest Omicron variant, including night curfews from tomorrow.

This announcement included a night curfew starting from tomorrow. It starts at 11:30 PM to 6:00 AM everyday with the exception of the new year’s eve. All offices and businesses are free to stay open and operate till 10:30 PM everyday. Containment zones will also be set up if found necessary in the state,

No restrictions have been placed as of now to both local and inter-district transportation. Cinema halls can now function with 50% capacity. Offices will also continue to work in full capacity except for the night curfews.

And to prevent possible infection of the new Omicron variant in the state, the government has also told that all foreign tourists will have to undergo tests compulsorily as well as a seven day quarantine when entering the state.

Wearing masks has also been made compulsory and not doing the same is now a punishable offence with fines of Rs 1000. Educational institutions can keep functioning as per the previous order of the Education Department.
