The FERNS Society has started a new educational campaign by the name of The FERNS Library. Located in Adingiri of Guwahati, this initiative is expected to serve all the residents of the nearby areas. This institution was inaugurated today by the Member of Legislative Assembly from West Guwahati, Ramendra Narayan Kalita.
As of now The FERNS Library houses over 450 books in English and over 250 books in Assamese. These books are available for both in-house reading and lending. It also has access to the British Council Digital archives. This allows access to thousands of books, audio books, journals , magazines and newspapers.
Speaking on the occasion, the local MLA appreciated the effort of the NGO in the field of education, specially for the youth of the locality. Promising his support towards the initiative, he also requested the local people to take full advantages of the facilities made available to them.
The FERNS Society is a Non Government Organisation registered in Guwahati. It has worked mainly in the direction of relief operations in different places of the state. From natural disasters like floods and COVID-19, this NGO worked tirelessly to support the people in need. It also works towards urban afforestation by distribution of plant saplings and plantation programs.
The President of The Ferns Society thanked Lt Sandeep Sharma from Eastern Book House and Saumitra Jogi from Aank Baak Prakashan and RJ Shubhankar from Big FM for donating books towards this cause. This educational initiate was supported by Guwahati Foodie.
