Assam government imposed total lockdown in 11 wards of Guwahati in the wake of the surge in the number of Covid-19 cases. The order shall come into force from 9 PM June 23 and remain for 14 days.
The lockdown has been imposed on ward no- 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (Part), 15 and 16.
Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited in the specific areas. All government and private offices in the mentioned areas shall also remain closed.
Business and industrial establishments, public transport, movement of private vehicles, hospitality, educational institutes, places of worship, religious functions have been prohibited. Not more than 20 persons will be allowed in funerals.
However, some exceptions will be provided during this period of lockdown.
All essential services are exempted from the lockdown. Shops dealing with groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths, animal fodder will remain open from 10 am to 5 pm.
Defense, Central and state Police forces, water, sanitation, municipal bodies, post offices, hospitals, grocery shops, bank, petrol pumps, LPG petroleum and gas retail storage outlets among others which will remain operational.
Without stopping in between thoroughfare is allowed from Jalukbari to Noonmati via Panbazar, Jalukbari to Khanapara (NHAI four lane), Paltanbazar to Khanapara on GS road, Lokhra Chariali to paltanbazar and Panbazar to Ganeshguri via RG Baruah road.
Persons above 65 years of age, pregnant women, children below the age of 10, persons with co-morbidities are advised to stay at home.
Assam has total of 2079 active cases in Assam which is highest among all the Northeastern states.
