The World observes World Sports Journalists Day on the 2nd of July every year. It commemorates the formation of the International Sports and Press Association (AIPS). Formed on the 2nd of July 1924 during the Paris Oympics, it will be celebrating a century of its formation in few years.
Sports Journalism is one of the niche forms of journalism. But being a sports journalist is not just fun and travel. It is one of the most adventurous forms as well where both physical and mental strength is tested.
Skills for this job include travelling to different parts of the world at short notice to being able to stand or sit in the same place through sun and rain. Anticipation and timing are other attributes of great sports journalists.
These ladies and gentlemen work hard to make sure that millions of enthusiasts can get updates about their favorite sports. Sometimes even when the actual activity is happening on the other side of the world. Sports Journalists not only the game to the masses but also are instrumental in spreading peace, sportsmanship and culture.
