Manipur Issues SOPs for Short Term Visitors to the State

Manipur Government has issued a revised SOP for short term urgent visitors coming to the state. An earlier SOP was issued for visitors coming to Manipur on short stay of 3 days or less for urgent tasks was issued on 20th June. With the evolving Covid-19 scenario and the need to ensure that important activities for economic and social development have to be facilitated, this revised SOP has been issued.

The Standard Operating Procedures are as follows:

  1. This facility shall be allowed to visitors coming for short stay up to seven days or lesser.
  2. Such visitors shall carry a Covid negative test report (in original from an ICMR approved lab) taken during the last 48 hours before arrival at Manipur. For such visitors no such further test will be required in Manipur.
  3. If the test report as mentioned above is not available, such person shall undergo paid testing immediately at the authorized private lab or at designated govt lab. Presently the only ICMR authorized private lab is Babina Diagnostics Laboratory Imphal. The designated govt lab for paid Truenat Testing IRL laboratory, RD wing compound, Lamphelpat.
  4. Such visitors shall inform their place of stay in Manipur and contact details at designated transit counter. (HRD Academy Imphal for Air passengers and Screening center at Mao /Jiribam for vehicle Passengers)
  5. Such visitors shall observe social distancing norms rigorously, wear face masks at all time and ensure regular washing of hands with soap or use hand sanitizer.

To contain the spread of the virus, Manipur has extended total lockdown in the state till August 31. Till August 15, the state recorded 4390 cases of Covid-19 with 1939 active cases.

This announcement comes a few days into the third round of reopening in India, named the Unlock 3. In accordance with the MHA regulations, the Northeastern state of Assam had announced allowed the reopening of almost all establishments. But the safety measures like wearing masks and social distancing need to be in place at all times.
