The Government of Manipur has permitted the state’s iconic all women market to reopen after remaining closed for about 5 months. A revised order was issued on Tuesday in this regard by Manipur Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Kumar to reopen the same. This order shall remain in effect till the 21st of October.
The market shall be allowed to operate subject to the preparation of schedule for all the vendors, according to official people familiar with the matter.
The vendors will be divided into different groups by the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) by following the stall numbers allocated to each vendor, stated the order.
The vendors shall have to sit as per arrangement made by the Imphal Municipal Corporation to ensure proper maintenance of social distance of at least six feet.
As per the order, each vendor will be allowed to sell products twice a week on rotational basis. Sundays will be closed for cleaning and sanitation by IMC, stated the order.
Manipur had previously announced the closure of the Asia’s largest women run market on April 21 due to the second wave of COVID-19 global pandemic.
