One of the most popular events in Meghalaya will be back in November. Meghalaya tourism minister, Paul Lyngdoh announced that the Cherry Blossom Festival 2023 will be held in November this year.
Paul Lyngdoh also announced that the Cherry Blossom Festival 2023 will be organised in a different location. This year the popular festival will be organised in Ri Bhoi instead of the usual Shillong. The capital city of Meghalaya has been hosting this festival since its inception. From a very humble start, this festival now attracts huge crowds. Apart from the local viewers, a large number of people from the state of Assam also visit this festival. With the event being hosted in Ri Bhoi this year, the number of participants from Assam is expected to be higher.
The minister also announced the dates for the upcoming edition of the festival. Cherry Blossom Festival 2023 will start on November 17 to November 19.
The organisers have announced that a number of well-known artists will participate in the event. Some of them include Jonas Blue, Hybrid Theory and Kenny Music. Noted songwriter-musician Ronan Keating will also perform in this year’s event. Lou Majaw, Show White and Meba Ofilia will also perform.
However, the exact venue of the event has not been finalised yet by the authorities. This step is also expected to boost the tourism prospects of the state of Meghalaya. He also announced the details for several other events. These included the newly announced Shillong Blues Festival to celebrate the spirit of the city. He also announced the Megha Kayak Festival 2023.
The Shillong Literary Festival was previously hosted alongside the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival. The authorities will organise this event on November 14- 16 this year.
