The government of Meghalaya has decided to create an OTT platform to promote local content and artists. Hello Meghalaya is the name of the proposed over the top platform for the state of Meghalaya. The government has also announced a new film policy to promote the state as a destination for cinema related tourism.
Conrad Sangma announced these new projects as a part of the state budget for the coming year. The new film policy has the aim to attract more people to the state. It also aims of to encourage the shooting of films in the Northeast Indian state of Meghayala.
The chief minister of the state also mentioned about the “Meghalaya International Film Festival”. He added that it was a major success for the state. And that this will attract a large number of potential film makers to the state.
The new OTT platform named Hello Meghalaya aims to generate content in the local languages. It will also help the local artists to generate revenue from their own content. Such a platform will also provide quality content for all the citizens of the state staying elsewhere. The state has earmarked a budget of Rs 15 Cr for these project.
