Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma on Tuesday urged to buy products from local farmers and sellers. The lockdown has devastated the country’s economy including the local ones. Setting an example to be followed, Sangma himself went to the market and bought local produce from vendors.
“After visiting #Williamnagar, I stopped at Chisobibra to buy organic produce from our local farmers. The livelihoods of our farmers was affected drastically because of the #lockdown. We must help them get the value out of their produce by purchasing from them”, Sangma said in a tweet.
Few weeks back Prime Minister Modi urged to create a self-reliant India, emphasised the need to promote local products and brands so that the nation can create a sturdy supply chain that stand against the foreign goods.

PM Modi had also announced a 20 lakh crore “Aatmanirbhar Aarthik Package” to revive India in the post-COVID-19 world. PM Modi also that the package is 10% of India’s economy.
