Meghalaya Government on Monday decided to impose lockdown in the areas of the state bordering Guwahati. The decision was taken in view of the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Assam.
The areas under lockdown are Byrnihat and Jorabat till Khanapara. The Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma, stated that the inter-state movement shall remain restricted.
Necessary orders will be issued by the Deputy Commissioner accordingly, added Sangma.
Meghalaya has 7 actives cases of Covid-19 as off now. As per a list released by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday, Meghalaya has the highest recovery rate in the country with 89.1 per cent.
This decision comes after a sharp rise in the number of positive cases in Assam. Assam Government had started the Covid Counselling Centers on Saturday to start massive random testings in the city of Guwahati.
