Meghalaya Government on Wednesday outlined various generic precautionary measures to be adopted during celebrations of Holi festival to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
As per the order issued by Home (Political) Department of Meghalaya, persons above 65 years of age, persons with comorboidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 years are advised to stay at home. Committees are to advise accordingly.
Following are the regulations to be followed in Meghalaya during celebration of Holi-
- Public celebrations and gatherings/congregations are not permitted in public places/ public grounds/public parks/markets/religious places. Playing with colours should be restricted to family members only and within people’s homes.
- Playing of colours and/or congregations shall not be allowed on the public road or roadside and there shall be no obstruction on any path/roads/thoroughfare.
- In case of private celebrations, the number of persons inside the venue/private premises shall be restricted in accordance with the order issued by Home (Political) Department dated February 2, wherein the maximum number of persons in any private gathering is restricted to 75 per cent of the seating capacity.
- Face covers/masks, sanitizers etc should be made available at the venue.
- Singing groups will not be allowed.
- Distribution of sweets, snacks should follow distancing norms.
- Positive and High risk contacts are not allowed to venture out.
- Persons with history of interstate travel should strictly follow latest covid-19 protocol for entrants issued by Ministry of Health and Welfare Department, Meghalaya.
- All festive activities should conclude before 9 PM.
