Also, the minister mentioned that the state government is looking into ways to control the traffic problem. The traffic congestion has been a major headache for the people of the city of Shillong. So much so, that the Meghalaya High Court ordered the state government to take steps to combat the same. Speaking on those lines, the minister mentioned that the concerned department is taking action. And they are trying to find alternate routes for tourist vehicles.

A large number of tourist vehicles enter and exit the state every day. And by implementing the new idea these vehicles will be able to move directly to tourist locations. Also, there will be very limited interference between the local vehicles and those of the tourists. These sanction on traffic movement will bring relief from the congestion in the capital city of the hill state.

In a bid to encourage the tourism sector, chief minister Conrad Sangma inaugurated 10 more vehicles recently. These are in addition to the previously launched vehicles under the Prime Tourism Vehicle Scheme. These vehicles aim to provide premium services to the high-end tourists coming to the state. And the scheme aims to provide financial assistance to the tourism entrepreneurs of the state.
