Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Badal will virtually inaugurate the Zoram Mega Food Park at Khamrang, District Kolasib in Mizoram on 20th of July 2020. This project is being executed under the Mega Food Park Scheme (MFPS) of the Ministry of Food Processing.
It is a scheme of the Ministry of Food Processing is aimed to form a “direct linkage from farm to processing and then to consumer markets” through a web of collection centers and primary processing centers.
Zoram Food Park is an integrated project in Mizoram which will provides infrastructure and services for food processing. The Central Processing Center of the Park is located at Khamrang in Kolasib district which is about 40 KMs from the state capital. The site is on the NH 54 within close range of the major transport hub.
The main objective of this scheme is to grow a sustainable food processing in the state. Their aim is at improving productivity and adding more efficient value by working closely with the various stakeholders in the food industry.
This Food Park comes into the picture after Food Testing Labs projects were invited of Assam and Manipur.
