The state of Mizoram has issued a new set of Standard Operating Procedures to combat the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. This order sets the rules for Covid-19 testing at the entry points of the State of Mizoram.
Following the recommendations of a State level expert team on Covid-19 management, the government has revised the rules of testing at the entry points of the state.
The following are the details in the new SOPs :
- Screening at Entry Points and Quarantine:
- All the people who want to the State of Mizoram will have to fulfill the rules fixed by the Home Department of the Government of Mizoram. They will also be screened for Covid 19 at the entry screening points with RAT for Covid-19.
- All people tested positive will be isolated/ treated as per the existing Covid-19 management protocols.
- Asymptomatic people who tested negative in RAT will not be quarantined, but will have to follow Covid-19 Appropriate Behavior.
- Symptomatic people who have been tested negative in RAT must be tested with RT-PCR/ TrueNat. And he/she will be quarantined for a period of the next five days even if he/ she is found negative in the test, and be tested again with RT-PCR/ TrueNat after the said 5 (five) days.
- Exemption from RAT screening – Asymptomatic people entering the state can be exempted from screening at the entry points and compulsory quarantine subject to production of the following documents at the Entry Point Screening Team:
- Negative RT-PCR/ TrueNat/ CBNAAT test Report for Covid-19 issued by any recognized laboratory within the 72 hours prior to the time of entry.
- A certificate of discharge from Home Isolation or Covid care facility issued by the competent authority within 3 months prior to the date of entry.
- Even if exempted, the people must monitor themselves for any symptom of Covid-19 for 7 days and strictly follow the Covid-19 Appropriate Behavior.
- No symptomatic person shall be exempted from RAT screening even if he/she produces any of the certificates.
- Self-Monitoring – People monitoring themselves shall strictly follow CAB to combat further infections, that is social distancing, proper wearing of face-mask covering mouth and nose, and hand hygiene. They must also watch out for any of the Covid-19 symptoms as indicated below and shall seek advice from the CMO/ MO concerned or the Helpline at telephone numbers 102/ 0389 2323336/ 0389 2322336/ 0389 2318336.
- Fever.
- Cough.
- Sore throat/ throat irritation.
- Loss of taste/ smell.
- Malaise/ Weakness.
- Gastro-intestinal upset.
- Body ache/Headache.
- Diarrhoea.
- Anorexia/ Nausea/ Vomiting.
- Dizziness.
- Shortness of breath/ breathlessness.
