Mizoram Re-imposes Lockdown for Two Weeks

Govt. of Mizoram on Monday re-imposed complete lockdown in the state for two more weeks starting from 9th June. The decision was taken as a result of the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the state.

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga had a consultative meeting on Covid-19 with representatives from Member of Legislatures, Govt. Officials, Non-Govt. Hospital Assn, Church Leaders, along with Village and Local Councils members, Taskforces, and NGOs to discuss the situation.

Along with the lockdown, Mizoram govt has also extended the quarantine period from 14 days to 21 days. Mizoram CM Zoramthanga also informed that the option of home quarantine will be available only in some “extreme unavoidable cases”.

On Monday, eight more people tested positive for Corona virus, taking state’s tally to a total of 42 patients. The guidelines for the lockdown will be issued by the state government shortly.

This comes after a week of Unlock 1 declared by the Government of India.
