Mizoram’s Anthurium Festival 2020 to be held Virtually

The Anthurium Festival of Mizoram is all set to be hosted virtually this year. The announcement was made by Tourism Minister of Mizoram Pu Robert Romawia Royte.

The Anthurium Festival in Mizoram is hosted to promote the flower of the same name that grows in the region. The main idea behind the event is the promotion and marketing of this beautiful flower. Also the promotion of tourism in the state and the Reiek heritage village to be particular is another aim of this festival.

The festival happens under the banners of the Mizoram Tourism Department and Horticulture. It is also sponsored by the Central Government.

The Tourism Minister Pu Robert Romawia Royte stated that organizing a festival with large gatherings would not be possible amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting also decided to take the grand festival to the tourists in and outside the country through live streaming over social media and other online portals using cell phones, television and computers.

Anthurium Festival is not the only one to be hosted virtually in this year. An event to promote the Pink Lilies of Kerela was also hosted online. These steps attempt to promote tourism even during the Covid- 19 global pandemic.
