Hema Choudhary, a Mumbai based Animal Rights Activist was arrested today from her home in Mumbai by Nagaland Police for making a video against the people of Northeast and sharing it.
The First Information Report (FIR) was registered under sections 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language) 153B (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration) and 505 (Statements conducing to public mischief) of Indian Penal Code and Section 3 (1) (2) [Punishments for offences of atrocities] of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Hema Choudhary was arrested after the complaints were made under Cyber Crimes in Kohima, Nagaland about a video she made and uploaded in Youtube. The video contained objectionable content aiming to harm people of Nagaland. She will be bought from her home in Oshiwara, Mumbai to Nagaland for further legal procedure. Maharastra police was informed about the Non-bailable warrant issued against Hema Choudhary.
This video was created after the Nagaland Government had decided to completely ban commercial procurement, sale and distribution of dog meat in the state. This ban had sparked a lot of controversy both at home in Nagaland and outside the state.
