A four day celebration of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in the form of the Kohima Street Carnival flags off today. The Kohima Street Carnival will be underway from the 29th of September to the 2nd of October, a total of four days.
Kohima, the capital of Nagaland is the host of this event. The celebration venue is along the New NST to the Razhu Point in the Kohima city.
The Kohima Street Carnival is a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrated across the country to mark 75 years of India’s independence. The Kohima Smart City Development Limited is the organizer of this celebration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the state of Nagaland.
Few of the events lined up in the carnival include cyclothon, blood donation camp, health check up camp, painting and music competitions, food festival, flower exhibition, walkathon and games for children. The Nagaland Piano Festival is also going to be a part of this carnival at the old NST
Kohima usually has a vibrant street life going specially during the evenings. But the recent COVID-19 induced lockdowns has been a blow to all the stakeholders.
