The Sikkim Government recently announced that no further RT-PCR test for Covid-19 will be required for travelers coming to the state. In a notification issued by the Chief Secretary dated 11th March, it was stated that the mandatory negative RT-PCR report as enforced by the government of West Bengal for passengers coming from Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana dated 24th February will be acceptable for the time being.
The notification also stated that strict enforcement of SOP by tourism stakeholders shall be ensured by Tourismand Civil Aviation Department. Along with it, other SOPs pertaining to organizations of rallies. ceremonies, melas, public gatherings shall be strictly enforced by the District administration. District collectors and Suoerintendents of Police shall be accountable for enforcement of the SOPs.
The notification further stated that the Education Department shall be required to take strict enforcement measures as per the SOP issued by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Sikkim is one of the last states of the country to announce the discontinuation the RT-PCR Test for Covid-19. Assam had announced the closure of test protocols but had to change the order because of the rise in the number of positive cases across the country in the recent time.
