The Northeastern state of Tripura has taken measures to counter the Covid – 19 pandemic in the state. It has taken steps to distribute Vitamin – C rich fruits to the public of the state.
Vitamin – C rich fruits and juices are distributed free of cost among the public. Specially to the economically weak sections of the society. The Chief Minister of Tripura said this in a tweet on 1st July.
“The body must have a strong immune system to fight Corona. And Vitamin – C is considered effective in boasting the immunity. To make Vitamin C rich fruits and juices available to public, our government is starting the Prime Minister Corona Prevention project .” The Chief Minister said this in his tweet on Wednesday.
It is important to note that Tripura is a leading producer and exporter of Pineapples. Pineapples have a good Vitamin C content. The state is also reported to export pineapples to Dubai amidst the pandemic.
This step comes after the Assam State Government decided to start random testing for Corona Virus. 31 Corona Counselling Centers were set up across the city of Guwahati in order to prevent further spreading. Tripura records the second highest number of Covid 19 positive cases in Northeast India, after Assam.
