To encourage minimal plastic usage, Tripura has come up with an initiative to make eco-friendly broomsticks. Under this initiative indigenous folks are making bamboo handles to replace the plastic handles of the broomsticks.
Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb, on Sunday shared a video on his twitter handle where locals are seen preparing the bamboo handles.
“Delighted to share that we are preparing eco-friendly broomstick in Tripura where the handles of broomstick are made-up of bamboos.”, said Deb in his tweet.
He further informed that approximately three lakh products with bamboo-made handles are getting ready at seven centers of TRPC throughout the state.
According to a report, more than 1000 artisans from indigenous communities are engaged in this process.
This eco friendly initiative comes within a week after the World Environment Day was celebrated .
