Tawang Marathon 2024 to be organised on October 24

Tawang: India’s one of the most challenging mountain running ventures, the glorious Tawang Marathon 2024, is all set to take place on October 24. This is the second edition of the prestigious high-altitude running event in Arunachal Pradesh.

The event also coincides with UN Flag Day, signifying the Run for Global Peace in ongoing turbulent times. This edition of the run will have a prize kitty worth around Rs 60 lakhs, which is almost thrice the same as last year.The event was earlier announced by the Arunachal government with the website , going live on July 10. Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu was the first one to register for the marathon. Registrations for the Tawang Marathon 2024 are open, with runners from across India lined up to make history by running at 9,000 feet. The caring and hospitable Monpas, the Indian Army, and the Tawang Administration are getting ready to host the Marathoners in Tawang.

Arunachal Pradesh has taken initiative to organise, jointly with the Indian Army, its annual calendar event, the Tawang Marathon 2024. An imaginative and futuristic initiative of the state government would infuse sportsmanship and competitive spirit running amongst locales as well as the participants from the rest of India, challenging their grit and endurance to brave the challenging terrain and rarer atmosphere. The mascot, Tabos, awaits eagerly once again, the Marathoners, for another celebratory run in the Himalayas.

With just 50 days left, preparations at an unprecedented scale for the Tawang Marathon 2024 are now underway. Three Promo Runs have already been held in Delhi, Shillong, and Guwahati, informative stalls were organised in Hyderabad and Satara to spread awareness for the event. The rock-solid civil-military synergy at Tawang, testimony to the bond between the Indian Army and Tawangwasees, will be on display for the world to see.
