Himanta Biswa Sarma today launched to the Jio True 5G services in Guwahati, the largest city of Northeast India. 5G powered Jio’s wifi services were also launched in the Kamakhya temple complex.
Representatives of Reliance Jio highlighted the benefits of this new and faster network in different sectors, mainly healthcare and education. The Jio community medical kit and Jio Glass were also demonstrated to the chief minister. Speaking on the occasion, he mentioned that the smart aids will definitely help the grass-root level medical personnel. With the help of specialists sitting elsewhere, these people will be able to diagnose and treat in the most remote locations. Also the simple designs can easily connect to an array of other essential devices.
Through these devices and the upgraded network, healthcare services can be delivered to the remote rural locations. Smart healthcare solutions like teleradiology, connected ambulance and clinic in a bag can all transform healthcare in Asssam.
The Jio True 5g powered wifi network set up at the premises of the Kamakhya temple will be free for all visitors. This high speed network will be of immense help to the huge number of tourists visiting the temple annually.
Apart from the healthcare sector, this network will also support education, agriculture and smart solutions for offices and homes. But it remains to see if the the services will actually be as smooth and fast as promised. Given that the region encounters more network disturbances compared to other parts of the country, Relaince Jio still has a long way to go. Also, there was not much of change in the speed after Airtel launched its 5G services after quite the hype.
