The small Northeastern state of Sikkim managed to make it big in the Outlook Traveller Awards 2022. It bagged the gold category in the Best Scenic Drive Destination of India. The road from Gangtok to Tsomgo Lake and Nathu La Pass is the one which won the award.
The second award won by Sikkim is the Gold category for the Best Mountain / Hill View Destination in India. The beautiful views of Pelling and Kanchenjunga in the state is the one to get this awards.
Assam is next in this list of awards. The breathtaking Kaziranga National Park bagged the Gold category. It won in category of the Best Wildlife Destination in India.
Meghalaya bagged a Silver in a very important category. Mawlynnong of Meghalaya received this award for the Best Eco Tourism Destination of India.
The Khonoma village of Nagaland came into the tourist map after the news of it being the first Green Village. Now its beauty and sincerity has won it the Silver category for the Best Offbeat Destination in India.
These are only few of the popular tourist destinations of Northeast India. This region has many destinations yet to be explores and developed. If managed properly, this region has immense potential in the travel and tourism sector.
