AATGA Completes One Year, Members Visit Chatrakar Devalaya

Guwahati: The All Assam Tour Guides Association (AATGA) commemorated its foundation day on Tuesday. Members of the organisation assembled at the Chatrakar Devalaya on the occasion.  The All Assam Tour Guides Association was formed last year on this day. The key aim of this organisation is to protect the interests of the registered tour guides operating in different parts of the state.

The annual foundation day of the All Assam Tour Guides Association was celebrated for the first time. It was organised today at Chatrakar Devalaya located in Uzanbazar of Guwahati. The event started at 11 AM on Tuesday. Tour Guides from different parts of the state were present at the event. And they discussed multiple topics pertaining to various problems faced by the tour guides of the state. The participants also put forward multiple suggestions pertaining to these topics.

The Chatrakar Devalaya is located on the banks of the Mahabahu Brahmaputra River in Uzanbazar. However, the temple is very difficult for tourists or devotees after parking their two and four-wheelers on the road. Although located at a prime location, tourists and devotees do not want to want to visit this temple, they said. This temple was built during the reign of Ahom Swargadeo Kamaleshwar Singh in 1795-1810. It is a historical site of the 600-year-old Ahom Empire and has the prospects of being developed into a new tourism destination on the banks of Brahmaputra. The tourist guides and the temple management committee urged the government to make arrangements for the necessary facilities near the temple.

They also mentioned that until a few years ago, the tourism sector in Assam was limited to Kaziranga and Manas. But now it has expanded to Pobitora, Orang, Dibru Saikhwa, Sibsagar, Majuli, Suryapahar, Nisangram, Rangsapara, Raimona, Bhairabkunda and various other locations. There are also homestays, eco camps, resorts etc. in various parts of Assam to accommodate these guests. Activities like trekking, camping, hiking, cycling, rafting and birding have also come up in multiple new destinations.
