India’s newest airline, Akasa Air has started its flights from today with the inaugural flight from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai to Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
The inaugural flight was flagged of in a virtual event Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister of Civil Aviation. General Vijay Kumar Singh, Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Civil Aviation was also present along with other dignitaries. Representation from the airline was also present.
Akasa Air had managed to turn a few heads towards them even before their launch. Their casual uniform was the talk of the town, not only for their designs and ease of use but also the raw materials used. Part of the uniform has been created out fiber made from recycled plastic from the oceans. Also they have boosted of comfortable sitting arrangement on their social media. They have mentioned that all their seats have ample leg space for comfortable sitting. Another welcome feature provided by this airline are the USB charging ports for all the seats. Thus eliminating the carrying and using of power banks and enabling customers to enjoy entertainment on their digital devices.
The launch dates were announced last month. Starting with limited routes right now, the company plans to expand their field gradually.
