On the occasion of the World Tourism Day 2021, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, has launched Aparup Assam. It is a directory of all lesser known places of tourist interest across the state of Assam.
The launch of Aparup Assam was done in the central celebration of the World Tourism Day 2021 organized by Assam Tourism. The chief minister presided over the the second session of the celebration which saw the presence of the minister of tourism, Bimal Bora and Director of Tourism Madhumita Bhagabati as well.
A total of around forty new tourist destinations were earmarked in this directory. Aparup Assam also contains a list of all the registered tour operators and their contacts. Another key point is the inclusion of culinary tourism and an event calendar alongside this enlisting of destinations.
All the in the list destinations are arranged district wise. Alongside a brief description, proper details about how to reach the place are also mentioned here. The best time or season to visit the place is also mentioned. Some of the locations have details about a local contact person as well.
Previously Assam Tourism had launched an online campaign to showcase new tourist destinations in the state. The minister also announced relief packages for the registered tour operators and tourist guides of the state.
