The Assam Motor Transport Association on Tuesday has withdrawn the 24-hour Chakka Bandh scheduled on January 27. The band was called on by about 11 private transport associations demanding fast track implementation of welfare schemes from the government.
However the band was called off as reportedly the state government assured a meeting with the association leaders.
Although they withdrew the bandh, the associations leaders have stated that they would continue with their protests if their issues are not addressed in the meeting.
As per reports, even after the complete lockdown of about 7 months, the workers didn’t receive any aid from the government.
