In a bid to support both the consumers as well as the cab drivers of the region, the Assam State Transport Corporation has launched its own ASTC City Cabs service. The trials for the service began a month back on June 26. And it was officially released for customers on July 26, Wednesday. Assam Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya took to Twitter to announce the same.
In his tweet, the minister expressed pride in the commencement of services of the new cab service. ASTC City Cabs also promises the qualities of trustworthiness and affordability. Both of these were sparingly found in the existing players in the cab aggregator market. A high number of cancellations, the behavior of drivers, and surges in pricing were some of the problems of customers. This new service promised low fares as well well as zero cancellation charges for the customers. They also promise a seamless, comfortable and secure ride experience to the public.
Benefits for the local drivers is a key point for this new service. They will have to pay a nominal fees of Rs 12.50 per day for the platform and no additional commission. This way all drivers will be able to earn more when compared with the other players. And in return encourage more and more cabs to be a part of the platform.
On the other hand the customer side app will be equipped with a panic button for emergency situations. This will ensure immediate assistance being delivered to the exact point of the problem. The app will also have a hotline access for trips to the airport. An artificial intelligence enabled chatbot will handle the helpdesk for any user queries related to the services. And people can download the app from the app store.
