After a very long wait, the Himalayan country of Bhutan has finally reopened its doors for foreigners with proper precautions and safety measures. The Director General of Tourism Council of Bhutan announced this in a release recently.
Following strict health guidelines and protocols are essential for travelling in the country. The Tourism Council of Bhutan inform that the country will accept applications for inbound tourists. They must agree to stay in a quarantine facility for 21 days.
Important conditions
- Interested tourists have to apply through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator.
- A Sustainable Development Fee will be charged per person per night for the 21 days quarantine period.
- The tourists shall bear their food and room charges for 21 days quarantine.
- Tourists can enter only for via air transport.
- A Minimum Daily Package Rate will be levied for the entire duration of travel after the mandatory quarantine.
- Tourists shall bear the cost for all tests as per the COVID-19 protocol requirement.
- Strict adherence to all COVID-19 protocol and TCB guidelines.
- Everyone needs to have insurance coverage.
- Must provide a COVID-19 negative certificate issued by a laboratory certified to carry out RT-PCR test, not earlier than 72 hours before embarking or the initiation of a journey from the country of origin.
It is also encouraged to have both the doses of any certified COVID-19 vaccine and to check for other travel requirements if transiting through another country.
