Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday announced relaxations in visa and travel restrictions to permit certain categories of foreign nationals to travel to India amid lockdown.
As per the new guidelines, foreign businessmen will be allowed to travel to India on a Business visa in a non-scheduled airline or a chartered flight.
The center has also eased restrictions on healthcare professionals, health researchers, engineers and technicians travelling to India for work at Indian healthcare facilities including laboratories and factories.
Foreign engineers, Managerial, Design or other specialists will also be allowed to travel to India on behalf of foreign business entities located in India.
The new guidelines also permit entry of foreign technical specialists and engineers travelling for installation, repair and maintenance of foreign-origin machinery and equipment. However, they will have to provide an invitation from a registered Indian firm.
All the foreign citizens falling in the above mentioned categories, will have to obtain a fresh visa or employment visa.
Govt of India had earlier barred the entry of foreign nationals in the country before the announcement of nationwide lockdown on 25th May. India has now crossed 2 lakh cases of coronavirus, roughly 15 days after it crossed the one lakh mark.
