China to Host Shanghai Tourism Festival in September

China is all set to host the Shanghai Tourism Festival for the year 2020 from September 12 to 27.

As per reports, the event is going to feature several multi-themed activities like Huangpu River tour, night tour and countryside park tour. The festival will also be a platform for the launch of some cultural and tourism related products.

Glimpse of the festival

The festival will be jointly participated by the provinces and cities across the Yangtze river delta. They will set up sub-venues in different cities to launch cross – provincial tourist activities. Along with these activities, facilities, information and tourist resources pertaining to tourism will also be shared.

Teams have been assigned by the authorities for epidemic prevention and control. The concerned working teams will ensure social distancing, check temperature and health codes along with other necessary protocols to contain Covid-19.

Performance by Global Artists

One of the major highlights of the festival, performances of global artists in a the opening parade, have been cancelled this year over safety concerns.

The Shanghai Tourism Festival was launched way back in 1990 and since then the festival has been experiencing substantial growth. As per reports, the first edition of the festival witnessed half a million tourists. In 2019, the festival received more than 25 million visitors from the country and beyond borders.

Out of the industries effected by the pandemic, Tourism sector is the worst hit. The Shanghai Tourism Festival for the year 2020 will be the first major tourism activity in the post Covid-19 scenario.
