Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today announced the list of events in the state of Meghalaya for the Autumn season of 2022. Called the Meghalaya Autumn Calendar 2022, the announcement was made by the CM in a press conference from the Secretariat today. Senior members of the department of Tourism also attended the meet.
The Meghalaya Autumn Calendar 2022 kicks off with the Megha Kayak Fest from the 13th to the 16th of October, just after the Durga Puja. The Shillong Autumn Festival will be a two day affair on the 29th and 30th of Ocotober. . The state of Meghalaya will be host to the upcoming Northeast Olympic Games from the 30th of September to the 6th of November. Umiam lake will be the venue of the Umiam Boating Regatta to be hosted from the 2nd to the 6th of November. The Hills Festival will be a two day affair on the 4th and 5th of November.
An International Film Festival will take place from the 12th to the 16th of December. Also the Hills Festival will be organized again from the 12th to the 17th of December. Dates of the Me.Gong Festival will be announced later. Apart from these events on the Meghalaya Autumn Calendar, the Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project will go on simultaneously.
Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival
The biggest of the tourism events, the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival from the 17th to the 26th of November. Unlike the previous versions where everything was happening almost parallelly, this year it will be separate events. 17th to 19th will be Mega Music Festival and 21st to 23rd will be Literary Festival. 24th to 26th will be the days of the main event of the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2022.
Traditional Festivals
Two traditional festivals of the state are also part of this calendar. Firstly, the Nongkrem Dance will be on the 6th of November. And the Wangala Festival will be hosted from the 9th to 11th of November.
