Meghalaya – the land of clouds, has always taken a special place at my heart as my father kept telling us about it. He often told the stories of their days residing and studying at Shillong. As a little girl, I always wanted to visit those places because of the descriptions of my father. And I was pretty sure that it would be no less than heaven.
My visits to Shillong and other places of Meghalaya have never been disappointing. The Krang Suri waterfall came to my notice one day when I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed and I fell in love with this place in no time. And, after lots of planning we managed to go and see the waterfall.
When we started our journey on a pleasant morning from Guwahati, I had no idea that the journey itself would be so breathtakingly beautiful. The distance of almost 182.3 km from Guwahati took us more than four hours. We took several halts on the way to take photographs.
Facilities in Krang Suri
Meghalaya has developed Krang Suri waterfall as a tourism project under Department of Tourism. Apart from enjoying the waterfall itself, one has the options of boating, swimming and even camping. You can stay overnight just next to the water and enjoy the sincerity. Washrooms and changing rooms are also available. We paid a small entry fees for the facility.
The waterfall is situated near Jowai at West Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya. After almost fifteen minutes of walk from the parking place when we reached the waterfall, all I could say was “mind-blowing”. It was such a serene place with clean blue water. Along with soothing breeze, soft sunlight and lush green picturesque surrounding. We could not stop ourselves from jumping into the pool of the magical water and it rejuvenated the soul. Boating, swimming or idling in the cool water, we did it all.
After spending some time at the charming beautiful waterfall, we decided to pack our bags and bid adieu to the Krang Suri. As we had to return back to Guwahati the same day. It was a great experience and a beautiful day amidst nature accompanied by a bunch of good friends, the memories of which I will cherish forever.
