The Director General of Civil Aviation of India has announced the resumption of scheduled commercial services for international passengers from the 15th of December 2021. This announcement came over the official Twitter account of DGCA yesterday.
In order to control the spread of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, scheduled international commercial passenger services were stopped from March of 2020 when India came under lockdown. This closure was extended several times in the previous one and half years and remain till for to the end of the 14th of December 2021 and subsequently restart from the beginning of the 15th.
The permissions to fly to and from different countries will be subject to the permissions and risk status issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Also the operations of carriers will be subject to the agreements and decisions taken by the Ministry of Civil Aviation from time to time.
The number of COVID-19 cases are under control in India. Also the vaccination number is significantly high in almost all states of the country. This has lead to relaxation of travel restrictions within the country as well. And this resumption of scheduled commercial international passenger services will now enable the inflow of international tourists.
