Government of India on Wednesday announced the recommencement of domestic flights in India from 25th May 2020.
“Domestic civil aviation operations will recommence in a calibrated manner from Monday 25th May 2020. All airports & air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from 25th May. SOPs for passenger movement are also being separately issued by Govt of India”, said Hardeep Singh Puri in a tweet.
Aviation services in India, except for Air Ambulance services, have been suspended since the first phase of nationwide lockdown was announced on 25th March 2020 due to the outbreak of COVID19.
The Airlines suffered a huge revenue loss due to the suspension.
The Airports Authority of India has issued guidelines for the resumption of flights in a “graded manner”. Passengers will need to follow stringent social distancing norms like maintaining at least four-feet distance from other co-passengers once the operation resumes. Masks will be mandatory for all passengers of domestic Flights.
Currently, the nation is at the fourth phase of lockdown and has crossed 1 lakh confirmed cases of COVID19.
